JONESBORO, Ark. (A-State) - Arkansas State sophomore tight end Darion Griswold has been named a national Honorable Mention Tight End of the Week and sophomore wide receiver J.D. McKissic the National Kickoff Returner of the Week by the College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) for their efforts in the Red Wolves' 48-24 victory over Idaho.

Griswold (Dumas, Ark.) recorded the first two touchdowns of his career while also becoming the first A-State player to haul in multiple scoring passes in a game since former wide receiver Taylor Stockemer also caught two against Louisiana-Lafayette on Nov. 12, 2011. Griswold tied his career high for receptions with five, which covered a career-high 89 yards. Griswold earned weekly honorable mention honors at the tight end position from the CFPA for the second time this season, also being recognized on Sept. 12.

McKissic (Phenix City, Ala.)?posted a career-high 125 kickoff return yards, including a 98-yard return for a touchdown, and a career-best 48 punt return yards in the victory. His 98-yard return, which tied the third longest in Arkansas State history, came at a crucial point in the game as Idaho had scored 17 unanswered points to pull within 31-24 early in the fourth quarter.

The return began a 17-0 scoring outburst by the Red Wolves to end the game. It marked the first kickoff return for a touchdown by an A-State player since the 2001 season. McKissic, who finished with a career-high 261 all-purpose yards, averaged 62.5 yards per kickoff return and 9.6 per punt return. His 125 kickoff return yards were the most by an A-State player since the 2010 season.

McKissic joined Griswold, senior kicker Brian Davis, senior defensive lineman Amos Draper, senior wide receiver Allen Muse and sophomore running back Michael Gordon as A-State players to receive a weekly honor from the CFPA this year.
