Tulsa, Okla. (UCA) - The Central Arkansas women's soccer team finished a three game road swing on Friday, traveling to Tulsa, Oklahoma to battle Oral Roberts. The Golden Eagles dominated the game, defeating the Bears 4-1.
Oral Roberts (13-4-0, 8-2-0 SLC) opened the scoring in the 17th minute, when Jennifer Abernathy fielded a cross from Megan Giles and put it in off of the left post for the 1-0 lead. The Golden Eagles added to their lead in the 41st minute, when Madison Valenzuela took a cross from Kayle Nsien and slammed it home to push the lead to 2-0. A Central Arkansas own goal pushed the lead to 3-0 in the 57th minute.
Central Arkansas (7-8-2, 4-5-0 SLC) got on the board in the 84th minute when Kristin Pollard got a pass from Kate Koch and scored her third goal of the season. The Golden Eagles got the goal back just 59 seconds later, as Valenzuela got her second goal of the night.
Allie Coleman led the Central Arkansas offense, placing two of her four shots on goal. Pollard, Alex Wurst, Shelby Wilson, and Adriana Lucar each added a shot on goal. Abernathy led Oral Roberts with three shots on goal in five attempts and Valenzuela was on target with both of her attempts.
Tahlor Lyman and Lexie Salas each added a shot on goal. Lyndzey Goff allowed four goals and made four saves in goal for the Bears, while counterpart Maddie Rhodes allowed one goal and made five saves in net for the Golden Eagles.
Central Arkansas returns to action on Sunday afternoon, welcoming Stephen F. Austin to the Bill Stephens Soccer Complex in Conway. The match is scheduled to begin at 1:00 pm.
