FRISCO, Texas (UCA) -- The University of Central Arkansas women's golf team had three golfers in the Top 10 and moved into first place overall Tuesday after Round 2 of the 2013 Southland Women's Golf Championship being played at the 5,977-yard Frisco Lakes Golf Club.
Sophomore Malin Senneryd shot a 1-over 73 and stands fourth overall after rounds of 72-74_145. Senior Julia Roth turned in an even-par 72 to go with her 74 from Monday and is tied for fifth with freshman teammate Sarah Brown, who shot a 1-under 71 (75-71_146).
Junior Carly Dear is tied for 13th after rounds of 72-78_150, while freshman Frida Svensson is tied for 24th (78-78_156).
UCA shot 293-294 for a 587 total, four strokes better than second-place Lamar (591). Oral Roberts is in third (596), followed by first-round leader Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (599), Sam Houston State (600), McNeese State (602) and Stephen F. Austin (623).
Senneryd was UCA's top finisher at the 2012 championships when she tied for sixth place and carded the low round of the tournament with a 70. Roth is UCA's top golfer this season, earned SLC Golfer of the Month award a record four times this season. She leads the conference with a 73.96 stroke average and won two tournaments during the regular season.
The final round is set for Wednesday morning.
