DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Rebecka Surtevall sits in a four-way tie for 14th place after carding a 77 (+5) in the third round of the NCAA Division II Golf Championships on Friday. The sophomore sits ten strokes behind overall leader Linnea Johansson of Nova Southeastern entering Saturday's final round. The sophomore got off to a rough start on Saturday, bogeying four of her first five holes, sitting at +4 after five holes. After scoring par on six and seven, Surtevall birdied the 509-yard, par-5 eighth hole to move to +3 for the round. A par on the ninth hole put her at +3 after the front nine.
Surtevall bogeyed the 10th and 11th holes to move to +5, then reeled off five consecutive pars before bogeying 17 to move to +6 for the round. However, the sophomore birdied the par-4 18th hole to end her day at +5, and sit at +9 for the championship.
With her three-round score of 225, Surtevall continues to lead all GAC players in the event, while only one Central Region player, Emily Kvidera of Augustana, has fared better thus far; sitting in a five-way tie for ninth place with a three-round score of 224.
Surtevall sits five strokes away from the top-5 of the tournament, as Lynn's Ellen Chambers sits alone in fifth with a three-round score of 220; Lynn's Louise Manalo is in fourth at 218, Nova Southeastern's Daniela Ortiz is in third at 217, and Barry's Nancy Vergara trails Johansson by one stroke at 216.
