    Razorbacks set season best road score of 196.600

    LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Univ. of Ark.) - Junior All-American Katherine Grable placed second in the all-around competition as the No. 15 University of Arkansas gymnastics team (6-7-1, 1-4-1 SEC) scored a 196.600, the team's best road score of the season as they finish second behind the UCLA Bruins who scored a 197.425.

    Grable finished tied for third in the vault, beam and floor competition, while junior Shelby Salmon and freshman Erin Freier finished tied for second on the bars as the team picked up season-high road scores in back-to-back meets.

    "We are hitting our stride at the right time," co-head coach Mark Cook said. "This meet was big for our team right now, after back-to-back season highs on the road, it really sets us up for the SEC Championships"

    In rotation one, the Razorbacks started on the bars with a 49.100. Salmon and Freier led the team with a pair of 9.85's, followed by Grable with a 9.825 and then a 9.80 from senior Amy Borsellino.

    UCLA would score a 49.500 on the vault, led by senior Vanessa Zamarripa who scored her eighth career perfect 10.0.
    On the vault, the Razorbacks picked up a 49.225 for a total of 98.325 through two rotations. Grable paced the Razorbacks with a 9.90 followed by Kelci Lewis with a 9.875. Borsellino and Heather Elswick each added a 9.825 for the event as well, the Bailee Zumwalde followed suit with a 9.80.

    UCLA scored a 49.125 on the bars to give them a total of 98.625 halfway through the meet.

    On the floor, the Razorbacks recorded 49.275 led by Borsellino and Grable with a pair of 9.90's. Lewis chimed in with a 9.875, followed by a pair of 9.80's from freshman Sydnie Dillard and Zumwalde. The Razorbacks would have a total of 147.600 through three rotations.
    UCLA scored a 49.250 on the beam in rotation three, to give them a total of 147.875 after three rotations.

    On the beam, the Razorbacks would score a 49.000 on the beam to finish with a 196.600 and the best road score of the season. Grable led the way with a 9.85, followed by Freier with a 9.825. Dillard also added a 9.80 for the event.

    UCLA finished off the meet with a 49.550 on the floor to give them a 197.425 for the meet.

    "We still have some room for improvement," Cook said. "We will get back into the gym next weekend and work on some things but we are very happy with the way our gymnasts are competing right now."

    The Razorbacks will return to competition next Saturday, Mar. 23 in Little Rock, Ark., for the 2013 SEC Gymnastics Championships.
