States of Matter

    Water in it's various states matter in meteorology. Most of us can explain evaporation, freezing and melting, but condensation, sublimation and deposition are important to understand especially during winter.

    Water as a solid is known as ice. As a gas it's water vapor and as a liquid of course it's water. The phase transitions from one state to another produce steam (evaporation and sublimation), Ice (freezing and deposition) or liquid (condensation and melting).

    Rain, snow, dew, frost and clouds are all the result of these phase transitions.  Watch the video for more details and pictures of these processes.
