Pine Bluff has the largest holiday light display in the state. This amazed by Arkansas is inside Jefferson County Regional Park.
The drive through light display just opened at 6:00 pm Thursday and the first several cars are making their way through.
Even when they're not lit up, they're still adorable to look at.
It takes many volunteers more than a month to set all this up.
Greg Gustek Executive Director Pine Bluff Festival Association says, "We try to make a good time of it, it takes us about six or seven weeks."
Then the big moment comes every night around 6:00, a whole new world is unveiled as more than one mile of lights come to life.
It is the largest light display in the state and according to the man in charge, Greg Gustik, the largest in several surrounding states, "Largest display of drive through lights in the state and now several other states. We go that title about five years ago."
This is the 11th year for the display. It was originally started to attract tourists, which Gustek says it does.
Each year 110,000 people drive through.
You'd never believe how much electricity it takes just one display can pull more than 18,000 watts.
And who can even imagine the size of each display, "People don't realize how big these are. We have several that are two stories tall and one that is 3 stories tall. They're so heavy it requires a crane with 17 people holding the guide wires to actually get them up."
And the display just keeps getting bigger each year, it's now five times bigger than when it first started. Gustick adds, "Everyone likes to see the holiday lights so we keep growing. each year we add five or six new displays."
The Pine Bluff Holiday Lights Display is another reason to be Amazed by Arkansas.
