It’s time for the THV 11’s Back to School Blitz!
There are more than 53,000 students in the Little Rock, North Little Rock and Pulaski County School Districts. Approximately 20,000 of these students are economically disadvantaged children. Many are from single-parent families, and many of the children go to school each year lacking the basic school supplies needed for classroom work.
The Heart of Arkansas United Way saw a need to help provide for these children and to help prevent early school failure for at risk youth.
The Heart of Arkansas United Way now collaborates with all three school districts on this project. School administrators provide parents of children who need help the most with a referral slip to be completed by the parent, signed by the counselor, and then taken to the food pantry to receive their supplies.
Each year, THV 11 partners with the United Way to help provide school supplies for these children. The items that are needed the most include:
- 3 Ring Binder (1”)
- Backpacks (clear or Mesh)
- Box of Tissue
- Cap Erasers
- Composition Notebooks 9 ½ x 7 ½
- Crayola Crayons (24 Count Boxes)
- Elmers Glue (large bottle)
- Folders with pockets and brads (red, blue, yellow)
- Glue Sticks
- Hand Sanitizer (12 oz)
- Highlighters (yellow)
- Index Cards 3”x5”
- Ink Pens (red, black, blue)
