NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (Oct. 2, 2012) - Take home a piece of history and art at St. Joseph Center of Arkansas's 'Chair-ity Sale and Silent Auction'.
The mission behind St. Joseph Center of Arkansas (SJCA) is to save the former St. Joseph Orphanage in North Little Rock, the 103-year-old, 56,000 sq. ft. building and its surrounding 63 acres from being sold for commercial use.
The group recently signed its first lease with a non-profit tenant, the Union Rescue Mission Administrative Offices. Work is underway to get more tenants as well.
To continue funding their mission, SJCA is hosting their 'Chair-ity' this Saturday, October 6, 2012, at 6:30 p.m at the Cathedral of St. Andrew, McDonald Hall. Tickets are $35.
The evening will feature a silent & live auction of painted/decorated chairs and side tables from the building. Nearly 50 local artists, including Jane Hankins, V. L. Cox & Connie Fails have decorated chairs for the event.
THV's Max Siegle visited the old St. Joseph Orphanage in August to see how new life is being restored to the building. You can see that story here.
