    Signature Chefs dish up for March of Dimes

    LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (Oct. 9, 2012) - Our 600 of Little Rock's most affluent individuals are expected to attend the Signature Chefs Auction on Thursday, October 25 at the Statehouse Convention Center.

    It will be an evening to enjoy a variety of wines, music, culinary offerings from many of Little' Rock's top restaurants and a premiere silent and live auction with unique items.

    Proceeds raised by Signature Chefs Auction directly benefit the local chapter of March of Dimes enabling the funding of local research grants, community services, education and advocacy to help improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality everywhere.

    Jodie McGinley is a March of Dimes Ambassador Mom and shared her personal story of losing a son to a birth defect to THV's Ashley Blackstone on 'Today's THV This Morning'.
     
    After experiencing fertility problems and a series of fertility treatments, McGinley and her husband were thrilled to learn they were expecting twin boys. Unfortunately complications quickly arose during the pregnancy and doctors found that one of the twins with Spina Bifida, a neural tube defect that causes paralysis.

    Elijah "Eli" Cole was born on August 3, 2009 at 6 pounds, 3 ounces. His healthy twin brother Walker Daniel stay with his mom at UAMS while Eli was whisked away to Arkansas Children's Hospital. Eli's MRI results were devestating; he had multiple anomalies associated with his Spina Bifida and if he survived, he would be a vegetable for the rest of his life.

    The McGinleys made the difficult choice to have Eli removed from his ventilator where he passed away in his parents' arms. In honor of little Eli's five days of life, the Team Eli Foundation was created and a Spina Bifida documentary was renamed after him after his passing: Project E.L.I.: Every Life Inspires.
