LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - With just a few days to go until Christmas, several charities around Central Arkansas are down to the wire.
Several non-profits that provide Christmas for low-income families could use a present of their own this year. Some said their down on donations and are making their last plea for help.
Reverend Stacey Allen with Stop the Violence, a group working to keep kids off the streets, said they're short 60 bikes for their annual bike giveaway.
"We're getting calls every day, but we're trying to make sure everybody has a good Christmas. We might not get to everybody, but we're trying to get to everybody," said Rev. Allen.
With a long list this year, Allen is hoping they can help more people like Linda Perkins, who has a 3-year old grandson and her daughter just recently found a job.
She said they didn't have the money to get her grandson what he wanted.
"We are so thankful that someone is out there doing this for the kids when the parents are going through some difficult times," Perkins explained. "It's the right time, and I thank God for the blessing."
A few miles away, Watershed is busy preparing Christmas food boxes and sorting donated toys. For 35 years, Reverend Hezekiah Stewart and his organization have provided Christmas to families in need.
"I could stand a lot more toys than right now. To be able to give people more than one piece of toy if we can help that or not," admitted Rev. Stewart. "We may have to give everybody one toy a piece."
Reverend Stewart said they still haven't heard from some of the charities largest donors. He's hoping others in the community see the importance of what his organization does.
"We prevent crimes. We prevent people from robbing. We prevent people from stealing. We prevent people from having stress issues because we are to supply at some point and time some of their needs," he explained. "Somehow, between now and Christmas Day a miracle is going to happen."
