    Deanna Fleming whips up holiday appetizers

    LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) --Whether you're hosting a Christmas party or going to a holiday potluck, it's easy to whip up some fabulous appetizers.

    Deanna Fleming from Catering Creations is here with recipes guaranteed to make your gathering a success and make you the star of the party circuit. 

    Spicy Popper Dip
    2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese, softened
    1 cup mayonnaise
    1 (4 ounce) can chopped green chilies, drained
    2 ounces canned diced jalapeno peppers, drained (add more if you desire more heat)
    1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
    ½ cup of Bread Crumbs (Panko would be great)

    Serving Suggestion:
    French bread, sliced and lightly toasted. 

    Stir together cream cheese and mayonnaise in a large bowl until smooth. Stir in green chiles and jalapeno peppers. Pour mixture into a microwave safe serving dish.  Mix the Parmesan Cheese and bread crumbs together and sprinkle on top of mixture.
    Microwave on High until hot, about 3 minutes.

    Buffalo Chicken Dip
    1 lb skinless, boneless chicken
    2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese, softened
    1 cup Ranch dressing or Bleu Cheese
    3/4 cup pepper sauce (such as Frank's Red Hot®)
    1 1/2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese
    1 bunch celery, cleaned and cut into 4 inch pieces

    Serving Suggestion:
    Crackers, Tortilla Chips, or Fritos

    Take chicken and par boil for 15 minutes, drain, and let cool.  Shred chicken. Heat chicken and hot sauce in a skillet over medium heat, until warm throughout. Stir in cream cheese and dressing.  Cook until blended and warm. Mix in half of the shredded cheese, and transfer the mixture to a crock pot.  Sprinkle the remaining cheese over the top, cover, and cook on low setting until hot and bubbly. Serve with celery sticks and crackers.

    Brown Sugar Cocktail Smokies
    1 lb bacon
    1 (16 ounce) package little smokie sausages
    1 cup brown sugar, or to taste
    Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

    Cut bacon into thirds and wrap each strip around a little sausage. Place the wrapped sausages on wooden skewers, several to a skewer. Arrange the skewers on a baking sheet and sprinkle them liberally with brown sugar.
    Bake until bacon is crisp and the brown sugar melted.

    Chocolate Chip Cheeseball
    1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened (Not Low Fat), softened at room temp
    1/2 cup butter, softened at room temp
    1 cup confectioners' sugar
    2 tablespoons brown sugar
    1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
    3/4 cup miniature semisweet chocolate chips
    3/4 cup finely chopped pecans

    Serving Suggestion:  Regular Graham Crackers or Chocolate Graham Crackers

    In a medium bowl, beat together cream cheese and butter until smooth. Mix in confectioners' sugar, brown sugar and vanilla. Stir in chocolate chips. Cover, and chill in the refrigerator for 2 hours.
    Shape chilled cream cheese mixture into a ball. Wrap with plastic, and chill in the refrigerator for 1 hour.
    Roll the cheese ball in finely chopped pecans before serving.

    Creamy Spinach and Artichoke Dip
    4 cloves garlic (or you can use already minced garlic)
    1 (10 ounce) package frozen chopped spinach, thawed and drained
    1 (14 ounce) can artichoke hearts, drained and chopped
    1 (10 ounce) container Alfredo-style pasta sauce (Get a good quality one!)
    1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
    1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese
    1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened

    Serving Suggestion:
    Fresh Pitas cut into triangles slightly toasted and sprinkled with Lemon Pepper or simple restaurant style tortilla chips

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Place garlic in a small baking dish. Bake in the preheated oven 20 to 30 minutes, until soft. Remove from heat. When cool enough to touch, squeeze softened garlic from skins.  (If you use minced garlic you can skip this step and just mix the garlic in to the mixture below.) In an 8x8 inch baking dish, spread the roasted garlic or minced garlic, spinach, artichoke hearts, Alfredo-style pasta sauce, mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese and cream cheese. Cover and bake in the preheated oven 30 minutes, or until cheeses are melted and bubbly. Serve warm.
