LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (Arkansas Business) -- Stocks end higher on Friday after that better-than-expected jobs report for October.

The U.S. Department of Labor reporting that the economy added 204,000 jobs last month, much better than the 133,000 jobs economists expected.

That gave markets a positive week, the Dow ending the week up 0.9 percent. The S&P up 1.3 percent and the Nasdaq up 1.6 percent.

Earnings report for Arkansas public companies

We'll get more earnings for Arkansas public companies. User care chain America's Car-Mart Inc. of Bentonville and trucking firm Arkansas Best Corp. of Fort Smith both scheduled to report earnings today.

It will be another crucial quarter for Arkansas Best, which is battling to turn its business around.

One development in its favor was its unions employees last month ratifying a new, five-year labor agreement.

Arkansas Best has said that ratifying the agreement would important to its long-term prospects.

For the second quarter, Arkansas Best reported a profit but said that high labor costs were continuing to hurt its business.

Building projects underway at El Dorado airport

Two building projects now underway to expand and renovate parts of the South Arkansas Regional Airport in El Dorado.

One involves the $1.6 million construction of a new hangar at the airport, with funding for that coming from the Federal Aviation Administration, the Arkansas Department of Aeronautics and the El Dorado Economic Development Board.

The second involves renovating the airport's terminal, which was built in the 1940s.

Both projects were approved last week.
