HOT SPRINGS, Ark. (KTHV) -- The Racing Festival of the South builds to its Grade 1 conclusion as the nation's best 3-year-olds take their final steps toward Triple Crown glory.
It's the final day of live racing at Oaklawn and it all culminates with the highly anticipated $1 million Arkansas Derby.
Weather is expected to be perfect with clearing skies and mild temperatures in the mid-60's and breezes out of the west at 10-15 mph, according to the National Weather Service. Violent storms rolled through central Arkansas early Friday morning, but the gusty winds are expected to completely dry the track for the meet's final two days.
Gates at Oaklawn Park open at 10 a.m., with first post for the 12-race card at noon. The Arkansas Derby is scheduled to be at the gate at 5:58 pm. National television coverage will be provided by HRTV, with their crew broadcasting live throughout the day.
Arkansas Derby selections are The Factor, Sway Away, Elite Alex, Nehro.
