LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - Michael Sadler has been found guilty of second-degree murder and sentenced to 25 years in prison.
The jury returned from 30 minutes of deliberations with their verdict. Sadler had been accused of running a teenager over with his minivan after the teen allegedly stole his wallet is guilty.
Sadler originally faced a first-degree murder charge in the death of 14-year-old Michael Stanley, Jr.
Police said Sadler ran over Stanley in May of last year. Sadler is accused of beating Stanley to death after running him over. The defense argued that he was trying to "retrieve his property from a thief."
He had pleaded not guilty. The jury heard another round of testimony before deliberating the sentence.
Sadler spoke to THV as he was led away in handcuffs. He said he has remorse for what happened, and said he prays for Stanley's family.
