LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - Cordoned off with crime scene tape, the Belk parking lot on Cantrell was buzzing with police Friday night after a person showed up on the property with gunshot wounds.
Sgt. Cassandra Davis with the Little Rock Police Department said the man who was shot told police he had pulled into an apartment complex on Rodney Parham Road to use a phone when two men got into his car and tried to rob him. The victim suffered a gunshot wound to the upper thigh and another to the abdomen.
When asked how he wound up at the Belk parking lot, he said his mother worked there, but wasn't on duty. He had called her in advance to have medical personnel to meet him there, added Davis.
Although he said he asked his mother to get him medical attention, he would not cooperate with police when they came on the scene, causing some confusion as to how he got there with such injuries in the first place.
Davis said the victim's injuries are not life-threatening and he has received treatment. Police are continuing to investigate the shooting.
