BENTON, Ark. (KTHV) -- Benton police are warning residents about a new scam in their area.

Lt. Kevin Russell said just this past January, they dealt with a Craigslist scam, but this time, solicitors are asking people to give out their personal information for an alleged contest they won.

"This latest round has just come in the last week where we've gotten a couple calls from people saying they're with MGM Casino in Las Vegas and Publishers Clearing House," described Russell.

Lt. Russell said in this latest round of scams, the people refused to answer the questions.

He said it's important to remember to never give out personal information, especially credit card or social security numbers.
