LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - Pulaski Association of Classroom Teachers (PACT) and Pulaski Association of Support Staff (PASS) filed appeals Monday in four separate lawsuits against the Department of Education.
Last month, Judge Mary McGowan dismissed the Department of Education and Commissioner Tom Kimbrell from the cases.
PACT and PASS challenged the state's decision to cancel their contracts with the district to address the district financial problems.
The unions said they think the judge is mistaken and argue the Department of Education abused its power under the fiscal distress laws.
