LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - A Little Rock attorney who worked for former Gov. Mike Huckabee is seeking the Republican nomination for attorney general next year.
Leslie Rutledge's campaign on Friday said she'll formally announce her bid for the office next week. Rutledge planned an announcement tour in Springdale, Batesville, Jonesboro, Texarkana and Little Rock on Monday.
Rutledge worked as a legal clerk for former state Appeals Court Judge Josephine Hart, who now serves on the state Supreme Court. She also served as deputy counsel for Huckabee and legal counsel for his presidential campaign.
Rutledge is the second Republican to announce a bid for attorney general. David Sterling announced last month he was running.
No Democrats have announced a bid yet. Attorney General Dustin McDaniel, a Democrat, is barred by term limits from seeking re-election.
