Arkansas State Capitol, Little Rock
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - Arkansas lawmakers met Friday to look into whether Arkansas should abandon the federally-run health insurance exchanges and start our own.
The rocky start to the Healthcare website last fall is still on the minds of lawmakers, and with the fiscal session starting next week, there's a feeling a state-run exchange would be better.
"Some of what happened in Washington DC, and the problems that the federal government had with their websites, and the launch of their programs--I think has kind of led to a lot more of the attitude that we probably would be better off with it down here in Arkansas because of the failures that occurred in D.C.,"
The committee has to choose a potential exchange director first before building a plan going into next year's main legislative session.
