Election 2010: Boozman wins GOP nomination in Ark. U.S. Senate race

    He overcame a crowded field of GOP hopefuls who tried to paint him as part of a broken system in Washington.

    Boozman escaped the possibility of a runoff after winning the majority of votes cast in Arkansas' Republican primary on Tuesday. He defeated seven rivals for the nomination.
    The state's only Republican congressman scrapped a re-election bid and decided to challenge incumbent Sen. Blanche Lincoln.

    Lincoln was forced into a Democratic Party runoff by Lt. Gov. Bill Halter.

    Boozman's brother Fay lost to Lincoln in 1998. He has been in the U.S. House since 1991.
