But they say they can prove Mann masterminded the attack because he was furious that the Medical Board had restricted his right to prescribe controlled substances.
Opening statements were delivered Monday in Mann's trial after a week-long jury selection process. Twelve jurors and three alternates were picked earlier in the day.
Defense attorney Jack Lassiter told jurors that nothing links Mann to the bombing. He said complaints were made against Mann to the Medical Board because of malicious gossip in Pope County, where Mann operated his clinic at Russellville.
