Member of Pearl Jam Eddie Vedder says, "What he has been able to do with his life and mind, and his intellect, and his spirituality is to me one of the more monumental acts of a humanity I've ever witnessed. What are they innocent? Because there is nothing that says they're guilty."

Vedder and the Dixie Chicks' Natalie Maines performed in support of the men convicted in the 1993 murders of three West Memphis boys.

About 2,500 people attended the concert at Robinson Auditorium.

Proceeds will help pay legal fees in recent proceedings. Damien Echols is on death row for the murders. His case will be before the Arkansas Supreme Court at the end of September. Jason Baldwin and Jessie Misskelley both received life sentences. Their convictions were upheld earlier this year.

Echols wife confirmed Johnny Depp and Patti Smith planned to attend the rally.
