They say the 18 officers, from state, federal and local agencies, arrested him without incident.

Harvey was wanted in the death of a police chief's daughter in Charlotte.

Valerie Hamilton was last seen alive at a Charlotte tavern. Police have said they think Harvey is the man who was spotted on surveillance video leaving the tavern with her early Wednesday.

Her body was found in a self-storage unit Saturday.

The victim's father, police chief in the city of Concord, used an appearance today on ABC's "Good Morning America" to ask for help from law enforcement around the country in catching the suspect.

Harvey, a former Niagara Falls, N.Y., resident, was convicted of first-degree sexual abuse in that state. His North Carolina criminal record includes failing to register as a sex offender and felony breaking-and-entering.
