    Beebe appoints NW Ark. woman to education board

    LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) -- Gov. Mike Beebe has appointed a Fayetteville woman to Arkansas' Board of Education.

    Beebe on Thursday named Mireya Reith to a term on the state's education board ending June 30, 2018. She replaces Naccaman Williams.

    Among 48 appointments announced by the governor's office, Beebe also reappointed Candace Franks of Little Rock as commissioner of the Arkansas Bank Department.
    Her new term expires June 13, 2015.

    Beebe also appointed the following:

    Bob Crafton, Rogers, reappointed to the Arkansas Higher Education Coordinating Board. Appointment expires May 1, 2017.

    Mireya Reith, Fayetteville, to the Arkansas State Board of Education. Appointment expires June 30, 2018. Replaces Naccaman Williams.

    Governor Mike Beebe also announced the following appointments to boards and commissions:

    Joshua Agee, Paragould, to the Green County Quorum Court, District 2. Appointment expires December 31, 2012. Replaces Jerry Cunningham.

    Bruce Alford, Lewisville, reappointed to the Red River Levee District One. Appointment expires May 10, 2017.

    Mary Ann Allen, McGehee, to the State Board of Embalmers and Funeral Directors. Appointment expires June 1, 2014. Replaces George Smith.

    John Baine, El Dorado, reappointed to the Arkansas Museum of Natural Resources Advisory Committee. Appointment expires July 31, 2015.

    Lloyd Black, Little Rock, reappointed to the State and Public School Life and Health Insurance Board. Appointment expires April 8, 2015.

    Amy Braswell, Little Rock, reappointed to the Arkansas Commission for Coordination of Educational Efforts. Appointment expires May 18, 2015.

    James Roy Brown, Prescott, reappointed to the Arkansas Museum of Natural Resources Advisory Committee. Appointment expires July 31, 2015.

    Lonnie Burrow, North Little Rock, reappointed to the Board of Dispensing Opticians. Appointment expires June 30, 2013.

    Debbie Cherry, Maumelle, reappointed to the Arkansas State Occupational Therapy Examining Committee. Appointment expires March 1, 2016.

    Mike Cone, Melbourne, to the Arkansas Development Finance Authority. Appointment expires January 14, 2015. Replaces Don Spears.

    Chief Jackie Davis, Cabot, to the State Crime Laboratory Board. Appointment expires January 14, 2012. Replaces John Howell.

    Anna Farris, Arkadelphia, to the Governor's Advisory Council on Aging. Appointment expires January 14, 2015. New position.
