CONWAY, Ark. (KTHV) -- The Conway Police Department say they have a suspect in a 2002 double murder.
The Faulkner County prosecutor has issued a warrant for the arrest of Richard Conte Friday morning.
Conte is accused of killing Carter Elliot, 48, and Timothy Robinson, 25, of Conway.
Conte is currently in jail in Nevada and scheduled to be released Sunday. He served nine years of a 15-year sentence stemming from the kidnapping of his ex-wife Lark Gathright-Elliott, who was also the ex-wife Carter Elliott.
While Conte was scheduled to be released in two days, he will be held on a warrant for two counts of capital murder.
Conway Police Chief AJ Gary says, "We've felt all along that there was enough evidence to warrant charges, but it's up to the prosecutor to make the final decision. We can't speak for previous prosecutors as to why charges weren't filed earlier."
