LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -  Co-workers of Jesus Herrara, the employee police say was killed at El Chico Restaurant Sunday, describe him as a conscientious and hard worker.

"Everyone one that I've talked to said nothing but positive things about him and the work ethic and the job that he would do," said Jim Brock, regional manager of El Chico Restaurant.

Little Rock residents said news of the death saddens them.

"I think it's really sad you have to rob and kill someone who has worked all of their life," said DeAndre Lewis, a Little Rock resident. He said to murder a man who has worked his entire life is unthinkable. "People don't want to work for anything. They want to think it's going to come to them. They think it's going to fall out of the sky."

Brock described Herrara as unmarried, but said he has family who work for El Chico.

"We understand his family...his brothers and nephew are as upset as any of us would be. So we're just working through the grief right now," said Brock.

He said Herrara ran marathons which is where he attributes his discipline.

"(He) loved to run marathons... and was talking about running a new one here recently," said Brock.

He said family along with employees will now take time to grieve. Brock said El Chico will have counselors on hand to help.

"The sentiment is everyone is really grieving the loss of a co-worker and friend, someone we've all been close with. Right now we're just in the grieving process. We're just trying to work through things and comfort each other," he adds.
