JONESBORO, Ark. (AP) - A judge has set an October trial date for a Jonesboro woman charged with capital murder in the alleged murder-for-hire of her businessman husband.
Trial for Michelle Despain was to have begun July 16. The start was delayed Monday to Oct. 1.
Despain is charged in the death last August of Marc Despain. Michelle Despain called police from their home to report finding her husband's body.
Last month, the judge set a $1 million bond for Despain after learning she collected insurance money on her husband's death, which prosecutors argued would have enabled her to flee with her children.
Jonesboro television station KAIT reports (http://is.gd/YVOKgW ) two men, including Michelle Despain's father are charged with first-degree murder and have pleaded not guilty. The alleged triggerman has pleaded guilty and is cooperating.
