BENTON COUNTY, Ark. (KTHV) - A Circuit Court of Benton County document provides more detail of what happened the hours before and after the death of six-year-old Jersey Bridgeman.
The Probable Cause Affidavit (attached as .pdf) was obtained by KFSM shortly after the suspect, 28-year-old Zach Holly, was charged with rape. This charge came two days after he was charged with Capital Murder in the girl's death.
The affidavit states that Holly and his wife were babysitting Jersey and her two-year-old sister the night before her body was found. The Hollys lived next door to Jersey and often babysit the children. The document states that when Jersey's mother, DesaRae Bridgeman, returned home from work at about 11 p.m., she went by the Hollys house to visit and then returned home. Bridgeman told police that Holly carried Jersey to her home, while she carried the younger child. The two placed the children in the same bed and Bridgeman went to sleep.
The report states that Bridgeman noticed when she woke up about 6:30 the next morning that Jersey was missing from the home. She then contacted the Hollys about the disappearance and called 911 to report Jersey missing.
When questioned by police, Holly said he woke up about 3:30 a.m. with an upset stomach. He said he went to the nearby EZ Mart, where Bridgeman's live-in boyfriend was working, and purchased medication then returned home three minutes later. During questioning, Holly said he knew nothing of Jersey's disappearance or death; police said he was cooperative, providing detectives with cheek swabs for DNA comparison.
Officers found Bridgeman's body shortly after the investigation began in a vacant home near the girl's home. An autopsy showed she died from asphyxiation.
Holly was arrested Monday and faces the following charges: Capital Murder, Rape, Kidnapping, and Residential Burglary. Holly is being held on these charges without bond.
