LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV)- The brand new Little Rock Bass Pro Shops is set to open next week, and more than 250 local employees are already on the job.
General Manager and Arkansas native Will Anderson serves as the store's general manager following a fifteen year career with Lowes.
"I've opened a lot of stores, but nothing like this," Anderson said, "We know the anticipation has reached a boiling point and we just could not be any more excited about getting the doors open," said Anderson.
The 105,000 square foot facility will be one of the largest retail stores ever built in Central Arkansas when it opens November 13. Bass Pro Shops is hosting a grand opening celebration at 6pm that evening which is open to the public. THV 11 spoke with nearby residents who say they've been waiting for this event for years.
"The service they offer, all the products they offer, it's perfect for Arkansas," added Scott Williams, a loyal customer. "Arkansas is a hunting and fishing state and they're gonna have everything."
Nearby Hardee's Manager Shirley Williams said she doesn't know how much traffic to expect when the store opens, but it will only mean more business for her restaurant. "Everybody's talking about how excited they are to have one here, how excited they are about shopping there and how much business it's actually going to bring us," said Williams. Managers at the adjacent truck stop also tell THV they're prepared for a major influx of customers.
