Katesia Weathers' family says she always had a smile on her face. But images of domestic abuse, paint a darker image into her life. Her cousin Tammy Davis says, “No one deserves to be treated like that." As an abuse survivor, her mother, Rosie Thomas says she wanted a better life. “Looking to do better," Thomas says, "she came here looking for a job because she came back from Atlanta." Weathers had been back a month when she was reported missing May 22. Since her disappearance, the family has filed a missing person's report, gone door to door and put up flyers of their loved one. Thomas says, “Ain't nobody going to disappear into thin air, all these neighborhoods, all these people in the street." In addition, the family thinks the person they believe abused her, the same person whom she filed an order of protection against months earlier, could also have information into her disappearance. They're questioning police as to why that person is not a suspect in the case. Davis says, “The police say they're doing a top job or whatever, but they're really not. In my view, they're not doing what they're supposed to do." Pine Bluff Police Department Lt. Bob Rawlinson says, “We're not channeling this in one direction; we're looking for information that will lead us to where she's at." Rawlinson says there's not enough factual information to arrest anyone at this time. He feels they've responded accordingly and are following all leads. Rawlinson explains, “We're looking for her as hard as we can. Two detectives are working on this full time." As for the family, they say they'll continue looking for Weathers, who they say would never leave without telling someone. Davis says, “It's just heartbreaking to see her leave without a trace." Rawlinson says a substantial reward is being offered for those who know anything in Katesia Weathers' whereabouts. You're asked to call the Pine Bluff Police Department at (870)543-5105.
