Judge Steven Bordner also raised Nicholas Sheley's bail to $10 million, up from $1 million, in the June 28th bludgeoning death of Ronald Randall in Galesburg.
Police suspect Sheley also bludgeoned to death seven other people in Illinois and Missouri in late June. He's been charged in four of those deaths.
Besides Randall, he's charged with killing a 93-year-old man from Sterling and Tom and Jill Estes of Sherwood, Ark., whose bodies were found in Festus, Mo. He's suspected in the deaths of four people in a Rock Falls apartment.
Sheley is scheduled to appear in court for his arraignments on Aug. 6.
