When Debbie Bradshaw looks out the window of her barbershop she doesn't like what she sees. “Cross dressers, all different races. The little Mexican with the red wig, he was really cute with his fishnet hose walking with gentlemen down to the hotel,” Bradshaw says. For the past 12 years she says she has had to endure prostitutes making tracks up and down one sixty one. She says, “When I'm here by myself I usually lock the doors because I have all kinds of people coming in.” Last year, the North Little Rock Police Department conducted a sting out there. It netted 23 people on a Friday night. Another sting went down last Wednesday. Twelve men, nine pictured, were busted for allegedly looking to pay for sexual favors from a female undercover cop. All of them face a misdemeanor charge of patronizing a prostitute. Sgt. Terry Kuykendall of the North Little Rock Police Department says, “It's an area where there's a bunch of traffic, a lot of hotels, restaurants and its just easy access on and off the interstate. And prostitutes seem to take that to their advantage.” Back at the shop, Bradshaw says she notices the difference whenever a sting is held. The one thing she and many more business owners would love to see is a stronger police presence. But, for now, she says she will take what she can get. Another sting went down last Wednesday.
