LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- After less than six hours behind bars, a murder suspect arrested Tuesday morning for a 13-year-old cold case is back on the streets.

Cedrick Simpson is out of jail on a $100,000 bond.

Detectives say Simpson shot and killed the manager of a Harvest Foods in 1997.

On Monday, a capital murder arrest warrant was issued for the 32-year-old. Simpson spoke out to Today's THV before he was taken to jail.

THV's Ashley Blackstone asks, "Why did you turn yourself in?" Simpson replies, "They issued a capital murder warrant for my arrest and so that's why I came in, to clear my name." Blackstone then asks, "Were you at the Harvest Foods in 1997?" Simpson says, "No and records will show that."

LRPD's Sgt. Cassandra Davis says, "This is proof that a cold case can be solved no matter how long. All we need is that little bit of evidence and someone willing to come forward with some information and we can solved a case."

Kevin Bearden, 27, was killed during a robbery at the store on South Main St.

Police found Bearden with several gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at a hospital. Bearden left behind a wife and a child.

THV's Ashley Blackstone focused a segment of her Cold Case series on Kevin Bearden's murder.

Police say Simpson was recently developed as a suspect in the case.
