    CADC to begin taking LIHEAP applications Jan. 9

    BENTON, Ark. (KTHV) -- Central Arkansas Development Council will begin taking applications for the regular Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) on January 9th.

    LIHEAP assists households with home energy and heating bills. Eligible households must meet income guidelines and furnish proof of all household income for the month prior to applying. Shut-off notices will not be accepted.

    In Pulaski County, the program begins January 9th and 10th, 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. with mass intake days to be held at the Arts and Crafts Building at the Arkansas State Fairgrounds, 2600 Howard Street in Little Rock. After that, applications in Pulaski County will be accepted Monday through Wednesday, 8 a.m. until noon at the Jacksonville Workforce Center #2 Crestview. Walk-ins only will be accepted at this location. Applications will also be accepted Monday thru Wednesday, 8 a.m. until Noon at the Arkansas Workforce Center of Little Rock, 5401 S. University. Walk-ins only will be accepted at this location and the location is limited to the first 50 customers.

    In Saline County, LIHEAP begins with a mass intake day, January 9th, 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the Gene Moss Building, 913 E. Sevier in Benton. Applications will also be accepted at the Gene Moss Building January 10-11, 8 a.m. until Noon. After that, applications in Saline County will be accepted at the CADC Administrative office, 321 Edison Avenue in Benton, Monday thru Wednesday, from 8 a.m. until noon.     In Clark County, LIHEAP begins with a mass intake day, January 10th, 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. at the CADC Arkadelphia Senior Activity Center, 1305 North 10th Street in Arkadelphia. Applications will continue to be accepted there, Monday thru Wednesday, 1 - 4 p.m. until funds are depleted. For more information, call 870-246-9871.

    In Lonoke County, LIHEAP begins with a mass intake day, January 11th, 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Lonoke Community Center, 1355 W. Front Street in Lonoke. After that, applications will be accepted Monday thru Wednesday, 8:30 a.m. until Noon the CADC Lonoke County Office, 117 South East Front Street in Lonoke and at the Ward Municipal Complex, 405 Hickory Street in Ward.     In Union County, LIHEAP begins with a mass intake day, January 12th, 8 a.m. until Noon at the Boys and Girls Club, 1201 North West Avenue in El Dorado.     In Hot Spring County, LIHEAP begins with a mass intake day, January 12th, 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. at the Malvern Community Center, 1800 West Moline in Malvern. After that, applications will be accepted Monday thru Wednesday, 8 a.m. until noon at the Arkansas Workforce Center of Malvern (CADC Smith Building), 1735 E. Sullenberger in Malvern.     In Columbia County, LIHEAP begins with a mass intake day, January 13th, 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Jimmie "Red" Jones Community Center, 231 South Fredrick in Magnolia. After that, applications will be accepted Monday thru Wednesday, 8 a.m. until noon at the CADC Magnolia Office, 1503 North Vine Street. For more information, call 870-234-6444.

    In Pike County, applications will be accepted beginning January 9th. Applications will be accepted on Mondays only, from 8 a.m. until Noon at the Murfreesboro Senior Activity Center, 120 E. Court, Suite A. Applications will also be accepted on Tuesdays only, 8 a.m. until Noon at the Glenwood Senior Activity Center, 229 Betty Street in Glenwood.

    Persons, including elderly and disabled who previously received LIHEAP forms in the mail do not need to attend LIHEAP Day. Applications should be returned completely filled. Regular Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) assists households with home energy and heating bills. Eligible households must meet income guidelines and furnish proof of all household income for the month prior to applying. Shut off notices will not be accepted.

    Applicants for LIHEAP assistance must meet income guidelines. For a household of 1, monthly countable income is $1,462. Countable income includes check stubs, child support, unemployment, housing utility assistance, SSI, SSA, TEA, VAS and retirement benefits.
    To apply for assistance, the household should bring proof of income for all household members 18 years or older for the previous month, proof of child support, proof of unemployment for all household members age 18 and older, proof of social security, retirement, pensions, workman's comp or disability, proof of utility allowance and if no income, proof of how bills are being paid. Social security numbers and birthdates for all household members are required.

    Failure to provide verification requested may result in delay or denial of assistance. Allow agency 35 days to make payment. For more information, call your local CADC office.
