ALMA, Ark. (AP) - A prosecutor says an Arkansas State Police trooper was justified when he fatally shot a man in Crawford County.
Prosecutor Marc McCune says Trooper Michael Bowman's actions were reasonable, professional and done in self-defense. Bowman shot 28-year-old Christopher Snyder on Saturday night.
Authorities say Bowman was trying to make a traffic stop when Snyder pulled into the driveway of an empty house and ran away. Authorities say Bowman chased Snyder and that a police microphone recorded Bowman telling the man to stop and submit to arrest.
The prosecutor says Snyder began to choke Bowman as the trooper was trying to place handcuffs on the man. Fayetteville television station KHOG (http://is.gd/6GgAkz ) says Bowman shot Snyder three times in the abdomen.
