MALVERN, Ark. (KTHV) - An office manager in Hot Spring County is under arrest for allegedly stealing from her employees.
The arrest of Michelle Rosenbaum, 43 of Bonnerdale, comes after a six month investigation into her alleged theft of employee funds.
In late January of this year, a local business owner reported to the Sheriff's Office that he had discovered that his office manager had been stealing from the company. The owner estimated that the employee had stolen over $70,000 since 2006.
"In January Lieutenant Jerry McAnear began his investigation" said Hot Spring County Sheriff Chad Ledbetter. "It was very time consuming and detail oriented as McAnear scoured years worth of financial documents and even found instances of theft that the employer had not. In the end it was determined that the employee had stolen nearly $37,000 in the past three years alone."
On May 30, McAnear filed an Affidavit for Warrant of Arrest with the Prosecutor's Office for Rosenbaum. Shortly thereafter an arrest warrant was issued charging Rosenbaum with one count of B felony Theft of Property and two counts of C felony Forgery.
Rosenbaum was not arrested on the warrant until last Tuesday. Investigators had heard rumor that Rosenbaum fled Hot Spring County knowing her arrest was imminent. On Monday investigators received a tip indicating a specific address in a neighboring county where Rosenbaum was possibly hiding. She was arrested there the following day without incident.
Rosenbaum is currently being held in the Sheridan Detention Center on a $15,000 bond.
