Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport, Arkansas International Airport selected for federal funding

    LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Members of the Arkansas congressional delegation say that two Arkansas airports will share nearly $1 million in federal funding for improvements.

    The announcement was made Wednesday by Democratic Sen. Mark Pryor and Republican Sen. John Boozman and Republican Reps. Rick Crawford and Steve Womack. The funding comes from the U.S. Department of Transportation.

    The four say Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport at Highfill will receive $270,000 and The Arkansas International Airport at Blytheville will receive $707,596.

    Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport will use the money to create a master plan outlining its goals and initiatives. the Arkansas International Airport's funding will be used to improve its runway lighting system.
