ALEXANDER, Ark. (AP) - The family of a 30-year-old man fatally shot by an Alexander police officer is still seeking answers about the man's death.
Authorities say Carlton Wallace was killed when Officer Nancy Cummings' pistol accidentally discharged on Sept. 8. Authorities say Cummings was searching Wallace after he reportedly threw a weapon into an area along Brookwood Road.
On Sunday, Police Chief Horace Walters spoke at Sharon Baptist Church. Walters said he's conducting his own investigation into the shooting but offered no details about the incident.
Relatives of Wallace say they're still awaiting any information about what led to the shooting.
Authorities say they're awaiting a report from the state crime lab before turning the case over to prosecutors. Cummings remains on leave.
