LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (Oct. 2, 2012) - Taste your way through Dickey-Stephens Park in North Little Rock this Thursday, October 4 from 6 - 9 p.m. for the American Heart Association's Festival of Wines presented by the Jack Stephens Heart Institute at St. Vincent.
The annual festival is the largest wine tasting event in Arkansas, and since its creation nine years ago, Moon and Central Distributors have been sharing their wines from around the world. At this year's festival there will be 600 wines available for tasting.
"The Festival of Wines has become a tradition with wine enthusiast and novice alike. It is a fun way to help raise funds for life saving medical research and education in the field of cardiovascular disease," said festival chair Ron Witherspoon.
In addition to the 600 wines from around the world patrons can sample heart-healthy hors d'oeuvres from 15 local restaurants. Featured restaurants include: Bar Louie, Boscos, Boulevard Bread Co., Cheers in the Heights/Maumelle, Chik-fil-A, Copeland's Famous New Orleans Restaurant and Bar, Cregeen's Irish Pub, Kiyen's, Outback Steakhouse North Little Rock, P.F Chang's China Bistro, Salut Bistro, Taziki's, Two Sister's Catering, Whole Hog Café North Little Rock and YaYa's Euro Bistro.
The Festival of Wines, which raises funds to fight heart disease and stroke, America's No. 1 and No. 4 killers, includes silent and premier auctions and Live painting by local artists Amy Powell and Cami McCluskey. For the ninth year local artist, Tracee Gentry will return to present and auction off a signature painting for the festival.
