UNDATED (CNN) -- Lance Armstrong has officially cut ties with the Livestrong Foundation.
Today (Monday), a Livestrong spokesperson confirmed that the disgraced former professional cyclist voluntarily resigned from its Board of Directors.
Armstrong helped create the organization 15 years ago after he nearly died of testicular cancer.
According to Livestrong, Armstrong stepped down to spare the organization any further negative effects as a result of the controversy surrounding his cycling career.
The move is the latest in the fallout surrounding allegations Armstrong used performance-enhancing drugs.
Armstrong has not admitted to using the substances, but he has also chosen not to fight the charges against him.
