BENTON, Ark. (KTHV) - A major retail development could be on the way for Benton.
Mayor David Mattingly said a Dallas developer has signed an agreement with the landowner to recruit stores for the first phase of the Benton Town Center project, which will begin over the next year.
Mattingly said there are still a lot of I's to dot and T's to cross, but he gave THV 11 an idea of what the developer has in mind.
"Some of the main stuff they are talking about is like Michael's-the gift and craft company-, JC Penny, Dick's Sporting Goods, and of course, around all that you would have the typical restaurants," described Mattingly.
The mayor also said this is the same developer behind the Shackleford Crossings in West Little Rock.
As for the proposed Benton development, Mattingly said it will probably be early next summer before they will know if the first phase is a go.
