TEXARKANA, Texas (AP) - A teen accused in the 2011 stabbing deaths of a woman and her two children in the small East Texas town of Redwater has pleaded guilty to two counts of murder.
The Texarkana Gazette reports Rachel Pittman entered the plea Friday. District Judge Leon Pesek sentenced her to two life sentences to run concurrently. She'll be eligible for parole in 30 years.
She was set to stand trial for capital murder Monday.
Pittman was accused of stabbing to death 34-year-old Amanda Doss and her children, 8-year-old Texas Johnson and 11-year-old Guinevere Doss, and then setting their home on fire. Pittman, now 18, was 16 when the family was stabbed to death in May 2011.
Redwater, a town of 900, is located about 14 miles southwest of Texarkana.
