JONESBORO, Ark. (ASU) -- The Student Activities Board (SAB) at Arkansas State University, in partnership with the Department of Athletics, will host its annual A-State Pride Day on Thursday, Jan. 31.
"A-State Pride Day is important because it provides a way for students to bond together as Red Wolves," said Charmaine Foster, director of the Student Activities Board Spirit Club. "It also allows us to celebrate our university in a fun-filled environment that honors the achievements of our athletes in a variety of areas."
Daytime activities, which will include prize wheel giveaways, award presentations, and an award ceremony, are scheduled from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. on the first floor of the Carl R. Reng Student Union.
SAB also is holding a den decorating competition for students and an office decorating contest for faculty and staff to help celebrate the annual A-State Pride Day. SAB members are encouraging all students and office staffs to participate. To enter the contest, interested individuals should complete an application form, available through the Leadership Center in the Student Union.
SAB has set the deadline for applications at 4 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 25. Judging will begin at 10 a.m. on Jan. 31, and winners will be announced later that day at the A-State Pride Day award noon ceremony on the first floor of the Student Union.
A-State Pride Day Award packets also are available in the Leadership Center. The deadline to nominate students, faculty, staff, families, and organizations is Friday, Jan. 25, at 4 p.m.
The three awards are the Scarlet Bella Award, the Howler Award, and the Alpha Wolf Award. Recipients may come from the campus or the community. These winners also will be announced at the noon ceremony on Pride Day, Thursday, Jan. 31.
The SAB will be holding a "craziest fan competition" at the A-State v. South Alabama basketball game that evening. Participants will be judged on outfit, creativity and school spirit. The winner will receive $100. Registration forms, now available in the Leadership Center, are due by Friday, Jan. 25, at 4 p.m.
Students are encouraged to attend the game and show their support. People attending the Red Wolves game are also encouraged to wear scarlet and black.
