NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Gov. Mike Beebe has signed into law a ban on abortion coverage in the health insurance exchange but says he's still concerned about two other abortion restrictions pending in the Legislature.
Beebe says he signed into law a bill that would ban insurers participating in the exchange created under the federal health care law from covering most abortions. The measure, which legislators approved last week, includes exemptions for rape, incest and the life of the mother.
Beebe told reporters he still has concerns about the constitutionality of two other proposals. One would ban abortions at 12 weeks if a heartbeat is detected and the other would ban abortions at 20 weeks into a pregnancy.
Beebe has not said whether he'll veto those measures if they reach his desk.
