LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) and Fighting Fancy are teaming up for a new partnership to help support women with cancer by presenting Rock the Runway this June.

The event will feature the latest trends from fashion designers and boutiques in the area.

Allyson Pittman is a co-chair for Rock the Runway and said she's doing this to honor her mother, who is a survivor and was diagnosed in 2010.

"I was in my senior year at the University of Missouri. So, unfortunately I wasn't able to be there on a day to day basis, but I knew one day I would be able to give back and really use my talents to honor her and the struggles that she went through," explained Pittman.

Proceeds will benefit the Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute at UAMS, which will use its portion to enhance programs for women with cancer, and Fighting Fancy will provide gift bags of personal care products to those women being treated at UAMS and others fighting cancer around the world.

The gift bags include information on how to receive a free wig and hats, a necklace, binder for paper work, coupons, a head wrap, products to assist with chemotherapy-related symptoms, Biotene, Nioxin hair-thickening shampoo, Biofreeze, lip gloss, Burt's Bees products, and other various items.

Rock the Runway will take place at Savoy 1620 on Market Street June 20.

Little Rock Soiree is also a presenting sponsor.
