LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- More children are being taken to Arkansas Children's Hospital.

The hospital's 2012 annual report indicated that all numbers were up last year, showing the number of operations performed, emergency room visits and admission.

Hospital spokesperson Dan McFadden said an increase sometimes happens in years when a particularly bad virus is going around, like H1N1 in 2009.

"This year we've seen RSV and all kinds of gastro-intestinal bugs, so it just really fluctuates," McFadden said.

Last year, the number of admissions, ER visits, and operations were at record highs. More than 52,000 kids were seen in the emergency room, and doctors performed 14,000 operations.

In 2012, the hospital also underwent a big expansion, opening the new south wing. It's now home to new research facilities and clinics.
