LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- Little Rock Mayor Mark Stodola hosted a meeting Thursday to discuss the Exxon Pegasus Pipeline in the Maumelle Watershed.
Mayor Stodola said immediate action needs to be taken to insure the safety of Central Arkansas water.
"[In] 13.6 miles of remote area, a pipe could burst and before anyone knows about it, it could be hours. To me, that's a real serious issue," explained Stodola.
Mayor Stodola said the next step is drafting a letter to ExxonMobil officials with questions about their concerns. He hopes to have that sent early next week.
So far, all exxon has said about moving the pipeline is they are committed to maintaining an open dialogue to address concerns over protecting the lake.
