Police say a woman arrested for the tenth time on a drunken driving charge in the last 12 years tried to get her son to cover for her but he refused.
After a complaint, 42-year-old Sheila Blair of Benton was arrested Monday evening at her home on a driving-while-intoxicated charge. Blair already is on suspension from a felony DWI conviction in 2004 for which the judge sentenced her to four years in prison with two years suspended.
Police went to the home, where Blair was on the front porch holding car keys and a bag with five cans of beer and one smashed beer can. Blair acknowledged she had been drinking, but said her son drove her home.
Police say Blair's son later drove up in a truck and Blair began yelling "Tell him that you drove me home." The son refused.
Saline County Prosecutor Ken Casady said his office will ask the judge to keep Blair off the streets.
