It’s time to get a flu shot and the Arkansas Department of Health is providing free shots.
Eighty-one health units statewide are participating in one-day mass flu vaccination clinics. To locate a flu clinic site and the free date they are giving flu shots, click the link under the picture.
Not only do the clinics provide free flu shots, they are designed to make sure health professionals and volunteers are prepared to vaccinate or dispense medication to a large number of people, in a short period of time. If Arkansas ever experiences a pandemic influenza or another disaster, it might be necessary to distribute medications to many people quickly.
The one-day flu clinic events will provide the opportunity for public health professionals to collaborate with other emergency response teams and test the effectiveness of the plans in the event of a flu pandemic or bioterrorism incident. Depending on the county, the free flu shot day varies until the 10th.
People six months and older can receive the free shots. The Arkansas Dept. of Health encourages all Arkansans to take advantage of the free vaccines.
